NOTE FROM THE MINISTER: 

A difficult two year campaign for the presidency concluded recently in historic fashion. Senator Barak Obama was elected the 44th President of the United States of America. This is a milestone for this nation and speaks to the opportunity that exists in this land as President Obama will be the first African-American to hold this office. While many Christians do not agree with some of President-Elect Obama's positions, it is imperative that we join together to pray for him, his family and his team. I am asking that we begin today to pray for President-Elect Obama and our country. Please join me in doing that.   Bill Thomas

Outreach Opportunity!!

The women of L.I.G.H.T. are participating in a project with Adopt A Platoon to support our troops. Our adopted soldiers are:
  • Nneka Brown,19 years old, single, deployed to Afghanistan until 2/2009 from Ft. Eustis, VA.
  • Kirk Lewis, 28 years old, single, deployed to Tikrit, Iraq, until 12/2008 from Ft. Riley, KS.
We have accepted the responsibility to support these two soldiers during their deployments. We have agreed to send them care packages, letters and cards. Suggested items are snacks, hand held games or board games, personal hygiene items, and individual powder drink packets and much more. There will be special campaigns during the year and we will keep you posted when they are occurring and what type of donation we are seeking. We will also accept money donations for postage.

We would like to rally the church around this continuing project to show our service men and women how much we appreciate their service to our country and we acknowledge the sacrifice they are making to keep us free.
